Golden Crown Literary Society Issues Call for Judges
Dallas, TX – Golden Crown Literary Society has issued its Call for Judges for the 2017 GCLS Literary Awards.
These awards, also known as The Goldies, are presented each year at the Annual GCLS Conference to recognize excellence in Lesbian Literature.
The Golden Crown Literary Society (GCLS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer organization whose mission is education and the promotion and recognition of lesbian literature. Our goals are to:
- Provide learning opportunities, encouragement, and assistance to new and established authors in developing their craft;
- Support and strengthen quality lesbian writing by providing educational programs and creating opportunities for readers and writers to interact; and
- To recognize and promote lesbian literary work.
The GCLS is a growing organization that is an all-volunteer effort relying on the expertise of its members and friends. The Board of Directors are also all volunteers, including the Executive Director. We are continually searching for those interested in helping the GCLS grow and prosper.
The judging application process will be open through August 20, 2016. The Awards Administrators will review/consult and select the judges by September 1, 2016. Those selected will be notified via an email from the Awards Administrators.
We'll give consideration to all interested parties in a fair, equitable, and professional manner. We have fourteen (14) categories that span a vast array of genres, so there is something that should pique many interests. All categories will have up to five (5) judges assigned.
Judging will be open on or before October 1, 2015. Judges will need to have completed two training sessions and signed the Confidentiality/Conflict of Interest form in order to begin judging. The judging and scoring must be completed no later than April 15, 2017.

The Goldie Awards winners will be honored at our Thirteenth Annual Conference, culminating in our Awards Ceremony on July 8, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza O’Hare in Chicago, IL.
