What Do The Goldies Mean To You?
The Goldie Awards represent the achievement of a standard of excellence in writing. To receive such an honor is the lesbian literary equivalent of winning an Olympic Gold Medal. Very few people reach that rarified pinnacle. It’s a moment to be cherished. - Lynn Ames
As a new author, waiting to see how my 'baby' would be received, was nerve wracking. When my first novel 'frame by frame' went past the first round of Goldie judging, I was extremely honored. On awards night, so many people sent me texts and messages about winning in Debut Novel category, I was completely over whelmed. To realize, something I created resonated with readers enough for it to win a Goldie, was humbling. I am extremely grateful to GCLS for the opportunity to showcase lesbian literature and to have those efforts recognized. - CJ Murphy
Since being a writer is mostly a very solitary job, with no boss or colleagues to give feedback, winning a Goldie was a wonderful recognition of a job well done. Knowing judges and readers alike enjoy my work keeps me trying harder to write the best books I possibly can. - Jae
