Our Mission

The Golden Crown Literary Society (GCLS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer organization whose mission is education and the promotion and recognition of lesbian literature. Our goals are to:

  1. Provide learning opportunities, encouragement and assistance to new and established authors in developing their craft;

  2. Support and strengthen quality lesbian writing by providing educational programs and creating opportunities for readers and writers to interact; and

  3. To recognize and promote lesbian literary work.

The Golden Crown Literary Society (GCLS) is a growing organization that is an all-volunteer effort relying on the expertise of its members and friends.  The Board of Directors are also all volunteers, including the Executive Director.  We are continually searching for those interested in helping the GCLS grow and prosper.

Membership to the GCLS is currently $30/year for Individual members and $75 for Business members. As a member, you have  access to organizational communications, access to internal reports, meeting minutes, financial information and other information about the Society, access to Forums and Groups on our website, as well as preferred rates for our annual conference and webinars. A Brief History

The GCLS was founded in February 2004 to bring authors, readers and publishers together for the betterment of lesbian literature all around. Our first annual conference was held in 2005 and has continued every year.  Since its inception the GCLS has grown tremendously, added many programs and services, and become a registered 501(c)3 corporation whose mission is education and the promotion and recognition of lesbian literature.

A number of our Faculty - Authors in the education programs and student writers have sent us testimonials.  If you are interested in hearing the effect that the GCLS is having on the lesbian literary community, take a moment to read some of these.  It's letters like these that make all the time and effort that we donate voluntarily to this organization, so rewarding.
