From our scholarships to our payment plans to the annual conference, the GCLS has something for everyone, accessible to everyone. Learning, growing, and sharing in our diverse community is the foundation of this organization. The Education Department offers master classes, mentoring, and a year-long Writing Academy.

A Message from the Director of Education

The mission of the GCLS Education Department is to make writing women-loving-women literature and trans/nonbinary/genderfluid narratives accessible to everyone. We are always developing as we look for new pedagogies and trends in literature to bring to our authors and students. We constantly push ourselves to better our programs, to reach out to new professors, to explore alternative methods of teaching the art of fiction writing.

The world of WLW lit is expanding. As LGBTQ writers move into the mainstream, it is more important than ever to ensure we are presenting the best quality work we can offer. GCLS Education encompasses master classes at the annual conference, mentoring programs, the Writing Academy, and access to beta readers.

Inclusion is an important part of the GCLS, and the education department takes that mission seriously. We strive to include the voices of under-represented groups in our classes, our instructors, and our students. As in everything else, we are always learning, always reaching. We know there is more we can do to embody the spirit of diversity and inclusion and we listen with open minds to feedback in this area.

Learn more about all we have to offer by reading the testimonies and watching the videos. If you’re interested, send us an email or apply for the next Writing Academy. Let us help you make your writing dreams into written realities.
