The GCLS holds and participates in various events throughout the year in our efforts to connect readers to authors and their books.

16th Annual Conference - Virtual Conference

The Golden Crown Literary Society's annual conference is the premier lesbian literary event for both authors and readers. This event brings together readers, fans, writers, editors and publishers to celebrate the best in lesbian-themed literature.

As you know, we had to cancel the 2020 conference in Albuquerque due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For the GCLS this is historic. In our 16 years of hosting conferences this is the first one that has had to be canceled.

However, we are excited about the possibilities that a virtual experience provides us all. We have put together a pilot virtual program that covers four weekends in June and July.

You can look forward to many of the same hallmarks that make our annual conference stand out - Master Classes and Panels are the highlights this year. And, of course, we'll end our conference as we always do - with our Goldie Awards Ceremony and celebration.

GCLS Online Book Club

In September 2019, GCLS launched a monthly, online book club–exclusive to GCLS members–with a moderated discussion of a featured book, and a Q & A with the participating author.  The book club promotes GCLS authors writing women-loving-women fiction and non-fiction in our community, and provides our members with a value-added networking opportunity outside of our annual GCLS conference.

The inaugural GCLS  Book Club event welcomed author, Ann McMan (Bywater Books) and her Lammy-Award winning book, Beowulf for Cretins.  September featured  Bold Strokes Books publisher and author, Radclyffe, and her book Love to the Rescue.  GCLS Writing Academy alum, Karen Richard (Bedazzled Ink Publishing) was our October author with her book of short stories, Women of the Year. We concluded our pilot year with GCLS Trailblazer and author, Karin Kallmaker (Bella Books) and the 25th Anniversary Edition of her classic novel, Painted Moon.
