Diversity & Inclusion

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy on diversity and inclusion is fundamental: we include everyone, celebrate our differences, and understand we are at our best when we draw from the unique strengths, abilities, and experiences of a diverse membership.

We are committed to a culture which fosters acceptance, extends respect to each person, and works to maximize each member's potential. We encourage and support initiatives which facilitate understanding and cultivate an atmosphere of kindness.

A Message from the Director of Inclusion

Hi! My name is Cheryl Head and I am your Director of Inclusion. I am, and have been, a diversity advocate for over 30 years and served as a liaison to the federally funded Native American, African American, Latino, Pacific Islander, and Asian American media consortia.

As Director of Inclusion for the Golden Crown Literary Society, I welcome the participation and viewpoints of readers, writers, editors, publishers, and allies who support GCLS’s mission.

What makes our communities, our organizations, and our country ripple with promise, creativity, and innovation is a diversity of ethnicities, races, religions, and cultures as well as the inclusion of a variety of perspectives, gender identities, and expressions of self.

We hope you'll participate in our ongoing conversation surrounding diversity and inclusion within the Golden Crown Literary Society.
